Melissa and Niki are two potters that live and work in Vancouver's east side neighbourhood. They met in art school in 2004 and have been best friends and studio partners ever since!
Their work is a continuous exploration into the possibilities and magic of clay. The work they make ranges from whimsical to functional pottery for the everyday. Always searching and learning, their most recent adventure was participating in the Raku and Soda firings at the Shadbolt in Burnaby.
Both are avid gardeners with second careers in the gardening industry. Niki has over 20 years of landscaping and garden design experience and Melissa has worked at VanDusen Botanical Gardens for nearly as long. You can see the influences of nature in their work.
Melissa and Niki are process driven. They are drawn to clay work for the tactility and slow journey of the single pot from beginning to end. They believe working with clay is healing and an investment into their well being. They also love to share this with others and both have many years of teaching experience.
